Back to Winter

We’ve been enjoying a relatively warm period with highs in the mid 50s and nighttime lows about 20 degrees. It has been warm and wet and I’ve been kicking myself for not having tapped yet because the weather is perfect for the sap to run.

But the coming week is going to be cold again and we might even have snow. For me this is great news as it means that I will have a second chance to identify the right trees and tap them as soon as the cold lifts.

In the meantime. We have company so there will be a lot of fun and a lot of odd projects as I’m sure they have different priorities than I do. That is the useful, occassionally irritating, thing about other people. They have a different perspective.

I just hope they brought a battery operated drill. There aren’t extension cords long enough to get around these hills so I could use ours and I don’t have a hand drill.
